Gale photographs things; people, places and events. He began photographing landscapes and nature in the mid-sixties while stationed in Duluth, MN. After a successful 21-year career in the Air Force and then as a professional speaker for over two decades, Gale returned to his passion for photography.
Although he spends most of his time shooting the beauty of God's creation, he enjoys capturing a variety of subjects. “I like to photograph subjects that strike a personal note with me. There is added enjoyment when my image brings pleasure and delight to others. I believe there is an advantage in not limiting myself to one genre.”
Gale, a resident of middle Tennessee since 1986, found an appreciation of rural landscapes. “Farmland, forests, waterfalls, mountains provide an opportunity to capture the vision I see in nature. As a two-time cancer survivor, it has helped me be more sensitive to the beauty in our world."
"For me, photography is discovery. I may go out for the day with a purpose. My initial goal may be waterfalls, but then I can end up spending the afternoon photographing barber poles."
Gale's work has been highlighted in the international publication, Photoshop User magazine, KelbyOne Insider Column, and his image of Old Faithful was published in Outdoor Photographer magazine. One of Gale's images was selected for the cover of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce Visitors Bureau guide booklet. With no formal training in photography or the arts, Gale is self-taught. However, Gale is quick to give credit for his photographic style to several masters of photography, including, Bill Fortney, Tony Sweet, Jim Zuckerman, Jack Graham and Rich Seiling.
In 2019, Gale was selected to serve as Photography Laureate for the city of Murfreesboro, TN.
